Customising/Extending EBS OTL using APEX

BillUKSep 5 2018 — edited Sep 7 2018

Hi,

I'm required to assess the feasibility of having to build a custom APEX extension into Oracle E-Business Suite Oracle Time and Labour. I'm aware that there are out of the box options available within EBS already in terms of templates to personalise or customise the Timekeeper Entry form, however, what is required is a complete redesign using APEX. The Timekeeper Entry form is to take on a similar look to the SST Timecard in terms of displaying a table containing the dates for a week within a period and the rows to contain time booked against a specific project/assignment. I would also need the ability to be able to add new rows for a Timecard upon the click of a button.

I anticipate the challenge to be two-fold:

1) achieving the required look and feel in APEX (I presume that due to the complex nature of the form, it would not be possible to use out of the box templates in APEX and that I would be looking at having to develop something along the lines of manual tabular forms using collections).

2) being able to hook into the appropriate tables and APIs to perform the logic to submit time data just as the standard Timekeeper Entry form currently does.

I am wondering whether anyone has any experience or knowledge of a similar task i.e. using APEX to customise key complex areas of EBS such as this to this degree and what the possible pitfalls and things to consider would be.

Apologies if this has been posted in the wrong section. Appreciate your assistance.

Regards,

Bill
