Java SE (Java Platform, Standard Edition)

Hello, I'm not a swing expert but I would like to know roughly how much work it would take to make the following concept. I am not even sure what to call it.

Basically I would like to recreate the Tab system found in Eclipse's document pane which allows you to have many (30+) tabs present but you only see about 5. On the right side it shows a drop down menu where you can see and search for the remaining tabs.

If this doesn't work I will scrap the entire tab idea and just go with some sort of drop down menu.

I tried using the the normal JTabbedPane scrollable technique but it doesn't work that great.
