CUPS Error (Unsupported format 'application/vnd.cups-banner'!)
851395Mar 29 2011 — edited Mar 29 2011I've got a new server setup with Solaris 11 Express primarily has a file server but I was hoping I could use it as a print server too.
I've install CUPS (v. 1.4.2 from the IPS), along with cups-libs, foomatic-db and foomatic-db-engine for the web gui. I've also installed HPLIP since I'm using an HP laserjet p1006. I've added the printer via the web interface (port 631), however, when I go to print a test page I get this error:
Unsupported format 'application/vnd.cups-banner'!
The error in the log is:
Returning IPP client-error-document-format-not-supported for Print-Job (ipp://localhost:631/printers/HP_LaserJet_P1006) from localhost
The printer is on and connected via usb (it was recognized as a local printer in the cups add printer wizard). The printer works perfectly in Ubuntu and OS X via CUPS and on Windows XP/Vista/7. I was hoping someone might have a solution to this bug. I googled around and there was mention of some mime types files that cups references but I can't seem to find these in Solaris.
I enabled sharing and added the shared printer on my Ubuntu machine but it also cannot print
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks very much
