CSN value store format

How the CSN value is stored ? Is it stored in hex or ascii or something else format ?
For ex:, In the following ex., Is 0000 (csn no) is in hex format or ascii format or something else format ?

No ID Number
My guess is as it is in hex format as time is stored in hex format but to make certainly sure, asking this question..
