Crystal reports 2011, Oracle 11g and Stored Procedures. Unable to connect

I have been developing crystal reports for a number of years and seem to experience problems in trying to connect to oracle stored procedures using oracle oledb connections.
Crystal reports generates an connection error message ORA-06550 where it is expecting a entry value for the refcursor which of course is an output type.
We develop all of our reports that use a stored procedure using mdac and not odac
Can someone from oracle explain this please or point me in the right direction where i can use oracle connection instead of microsoft ones.
