Creating DSN with OraHome92 Driver

387081Jan 5 2004 — edited Jan 5 2004
Good morning.

I have two problems:

1) When I try to add a new DSN using the OraHome92 driver I get these two error messages in seperate message boxes one after the other:
a) The setup routines for the Oracle in OraHome92 ODBC driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126.
b) Could not load the setup or translator library

I found an article on Microsoft's support page (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q260/5/58.ASP&NoWebContent=1) that outlines a procedure for updating the registry/MDAC components to correct the issue.

I was hoping to get some comments about this failure to take to my help desk to convince them I need to update the registry. What is the name of the actual library file that the Oracle driver uses?

2) When using the Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle, I have no trouble running most queries, but when I use an outer join, it fails with a generic "1004 SQL Syntax Error" message. Might someone know another way to use outer joins in Oracle without using the "(+)"?

Thanks in advance for the help. =)

Happy New Year.
