Creating a directory object in Windows

chuckersMay 13 2014 — edited May 13 2014

I operate in a LINUX environment, but I have a colleague working in a Windows environment, and we're trying to figure out where a directory object is pointing.

I had him query DBA_DIRECTORIES and the default DATA_PUMP_DIR is pointed at an '/app/...' location, but I can't seem to find the directory path preceding '/app'. We tried going into the registry with him on the phone, and while we did find the 11.2 ORACLE_HOME, there was no '/app' listed afterwards. We also tried searching for any '/app' folder, with no luck. I was assuming it was under '/u01', but we couldn't find it either. There's only a C:\ drive on this test server, also.

So then I tried having him setup a test, and run CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY gary AS '/gary';

Then we created a folder at the 11g ORACLE_HOME, and tried an impdp, but it wouldn't work.

Obviously, I have no experience with how these UNIX/LINUX-like file paths are mapped onto a Windows file system, and so I was looking for some assistance.

Thanks,
