Create REF CURSOR as a view/temp table

david.masseyAug 14 2014 — edited Aug 14 2014

Hi Everyone,

I have been tasked to upgrade a number of Crystal Reports that are using REF CURSORS as part of an ERP upgrade project. The new version of the ERP application no longer supports the use of REF CURSORS, and only supports the use of Views/Tables.

I cannot see how I can rewrite the REF CURSORS (which are defined in PL/SQL Procedures), as VIEWS/ TEMP TABLES with a single call. i.e when the user runs the report.

Can anyone suggest a way of converting REF CURSORS into a View/Temp Table without performing a two stage process, i.e. 1 - Execute the procedure to populate a temp table then, 2 - Query the table within the report.??? - I was looking at Pipelining as an option but again could only achieve with two steps, pre populating before running the report.

Any advice would be greatly received.

Regards,

David.
