cpio file with database 10g download

I have simply downloaded the Oracle 10g database to my Solaris Sunblade box running Solaris 9. The file unzips just fine, but when I try to use cpio on the cpio file it looks like it is executing, but nothing ever happens. I let it sit for 2 days once and the cpio command never completed. Is there another trick to this that I am missing? Or is the file corrupt perhaps? Have other people experienced this same problem.
