cpio command hanging

When running cpio -idmv solaris64_9.2.0.1.0.Disk1.cpio It just hangs. I leave it over night and no change. When i do a vmstat i notice that its eating a lot of swap memory. Also when i run prstat the process just seems to be idle. Anyone come across this whe using cpio to upack Oracle?
