Hi,
@Forums software maintainers: this is just for the record.
Original discussion: https://forums.oracle.com/ords/apexds/post/sqldeveloper-auto-trace-4934
I have just tried to edit my comment of April 25, 2022, in the above discussion, in order to restore original text formats, altered in 2023 as a consequence of the migration to the current Forums software: most the expected character formats had (finally) been preserved, but inter-paragraph vertical space left much to be desired.
Unfortunately, the Forums software now imposes a limitation of 10k characters per comment, and apparently this causes an exception to be raised when attempting to post the edited comment:

So I can edit my comment, which is undeniably useful, unfortunately I can't save my changes because the original comment was longer than 10k—back in 2022 the Forums software allowed for such long comments—and the edited version is approximately of the same length.
Solution: I have split the contents of the original comment into 2 new comments. [That results in the discussion to appear as though it had been freshly updated, which it hasn't really. It was not my intention to do so, but that's only a minor inconvenience.] I must say it's a great thing that the current Forums software makes this so easy to do.
But now, I'd like to delete the original comment, which I have just made redundant. Unfortunately, attempting to delete it resulted in the same kind of exception messages as the one shown above.
I could, however, edit that comment again, and remove most of its text, so now it would be much shorter than 10k, and attempt to post it again—that worked, which is nice.
At that point, I thought it would be possible to finally delete it, but no such luck: the “oops, something went wrong! […] (Reference: nnnnnnn.nn.nnn.nnnnnn)” exception is sticky: even though I can edit that comment, and save it now that it's shorter than 10k, I still can't delete it. So I had to leave it at that point.
Please let me add that, overall, my experience with the Forums software is pleasant: I find the software robust and reliable. What I'm documenting here is merely an exception.
Thanks & best regards,
