Could not reserve enough space for object heap - out of the blue

843829Jul 23 2009 — edited Aug 2 2009
We have been running running Java 1.4.2 with Tomcat on Windows 2003 boxes for months and no problems. We run 1.5 GB jvms. Starting today none of these services will start, throwing "Error occurred during initialization of VM" and "Could not reserve enough space for object heap". This is also occuring on developer's XP desktops except they use 1024 MB jvms. The only way to start these are to decrease the server jvms to 1 GB and the XP jvms to 512 MB. The server have not taken any patches since last week and while the desktop did a few days ago, removing the patches has no effect. MS has no clue what could do this, nor do I. Help ?
