converting member disk to candidate disk

SaikatBanerjeeDec 31 2012 — edited Jan 2 2013
Hi,

I came accross the command "# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb1 bs=1024 count=100" to convert member disk to a candidate disk "/dev/sdb1".

I am unable to understand what is "/dev/zero". What should I put in my case? Please help.

Regards,
saikat
