converting a string phone number in to some specified format

Hi guys,
I am facing problem while converting a string phone number in to some specified format.ie i am entering the phone number as a simple string like 2345678987.I want this string phone number to be converted in to the following pattern +XX (XX) XXXX-XXXX*.Please help me out in this.Any help is considered.I am very much thank full in advance.
