Convert EST/EDT to GMT timezone

Hi,

Please let me know how to covert data in table's column (Date_Modified) from EST/EDT to GMT time zone.

I have tried new_time function but it does not take into account EST and EDT both when it Day light Saving will switches.

new_time(trunc(Date_modified),'EDT','GMT')

Source : EDT

05-MAY-14 10:17:48

Target : GMT

05-MAY-14 03:51:36
