connecttivity from oracle application server to databases

Hi all,

i am new to oracle application server acutally i am DBA so i want to know can we connect from one Oracle applcation to two databases at the same time i mean one after another but the first one is being connected?. Quick response will be higly appreciated. thanks in advance.
