Connection Pooling

699403Jul 16 2009 — edited Jul 17 2009
Hi,

I have SSRS- SQL Reporting Services 2008 hooking up to my oracle 9i database. I have oracle 9i client installed on the SSRS 2008 report server, which enables this server to talk to the oracle 9i database server.

I am creating a shared data source of type Oracle, with following pooling parameters in my reporting services project:

Enlist: True
Load Balance Timeout: 0
Max Pool Size: 100
Min Pool Size: 0
Pooling: True

The issue i am facing in reporting services is that i get an error message sometimes which states max connection pool size reached.

I am not quite sure if this is at Oracle server side not closing connections properly or at SQL Server side not closing connection properly.

I have been stuck on this issue for quite some time now. Any help would be much appreciated.

Increasing the max number of connections is an option provided i can be confident that they will be closed after the 60sec default timeout period.

I have another question what happens if you don't use connection pooling, setting it to FALSE.

Many thanks.
