connection from vb.net gives error -ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the co

client server - windows 2000 advanced server
DB server - Solaris Sparc (64-bit)
DB OS verison - solaris 10.
DB version - 11.2.0.1
client version - 11gR1

I have upgraded our test database server from 9.2.0.6 to 11gR2. The application team upgraded their client to 11gR1 (Initially, they tries to upgrade to 11gR2 and found out that was not compatible with Windows 2000. ) The DSN works through the ODBC client and through the Web Application. However they recieve the following error when trying to connect through a stand alone VB.Net application -

ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.

Does someone have any clue on this? Please do let me know if you need more information on this. Any help is appreciated.
