Connecting to system takes up 100%CPU and hangs

Klostrie-OracleJul 9 2010 — edited Jul 12 2010
Hello All,
I'm running SQL Developer 2.1.1.64 on a 11.2 Client (Windows XP). Some of our databases are version 9.2.0.3. I can connect to ordinary schemas just fine. However, when I connect to system or sys SQL Developer hangs and I see that the process consumes an entire CPU. I was able to reproduce this on 2 different databases on different servers. The symptoms are 100% cpu usage and in SQL Developer the "Task Progress" window just stays in the "running" status. I can cancel the task in SQL Developer but the process on the server stays at 100%. I'm also not able to quit sql developer (get "Connection Busy - try again/abort") - need to kill it via the task manager.
Connection is via TNS, default role.
Does anyone have any ideas or hints on how to diagnose this ?

On my old laptop (9.2 Client, SQL Developer 1.5.1) everything works fine. sqlplus from command line works fine too.

Kind Regards,
Koen
