Connecting to RAU

Hi. I am installing Designer 6i on Oracle 8i 8.1.7.
I can connect as repos_manager using SQL_Plus but I am unable to connect using RAU. I have checked TNSNAMES, SQLNET and LISTENER but I can't find a problem. Can anybody give me a clue please. Martin
