Connecting to Database hangs

user507131Nov 22 2007 — edited Nov 26 2007
Hi,

We have oracle10g on a linux server. This morning we have high load average (14.00) on the server and couldn't connect to the database. All the oracle background processes are running and load average is going high. I couldn't loginto sqlplus to shutdown the database.

Can anyone please let me know how to shutdown the database without rebooting the server.

Thanks in advance.
