connect sys as sysdba

Hello,

If i'm trying to connect to 'orcl' database via 'sys as sysdba', no matter which password i enter, i log on successfully. When i installed the database i've specified my own password for sys and system accounts. Using 'system' i can connect only with that password. But why, using 'sys' i can connect with any entered password and not with that which i specified?
