Confused with Control files

Hi ALL,

Oracle Db 11gR1

OL6

I am confused with lots of control files and what are their uses.

They are:

1. current controlfile

2. backup controlfile

3. snapshot controlfile

4. standby controlfile

5. Any other else?

Are all of the above can be converted to a standard normal controlfile?
