Confused about 32 bit and 64 bit java.

I want to install java on a sun machine with a UltraSPARC-II processor. I'm a bit confused on whether I should be using the 64 bit of java or the 32 bit. I want the programs I write to work under Windows as well, so what version should I be using ?
