Configuring OBIEE to connect to database

Hi, I have configured OBIEE and the only problem I am having is connecting to an Oracle Database version 10g where the data is housed. I can open the repository from the BI Server using the client Admin tool and when I choose a database object and then choose View Data... from the properties menu for the connection pool object, it won't connect. I have triple checked that the tnsnames.ora file on the Unix box is correct. Do I need to configure a file to point to the tnsnames.ora file? I'm assuming this is my problem.

I have OBIEE installed on Unix Solaris platform. This is the error I get when attempting to run a query in Answers:
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 12170, message: ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred at OCI call OCIServerAttach. [nQSError: 17014] Could not connect to Oracle database. (HY000)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
