Configure a Server Load Balancer

alanmNov 12 2008 — edited Nov 21 2008
Hi all,
Does anyone have experience of creating a Server Load Balancer?

I will explain the situation.

I have Grid control configured on a primary server with dataguard to a standby server. The standby server also has grid control installed.

Now I have a number of agents communicating with the primary at the present time however in the case of either failover or switchover to my standby grid control I am left with 2 options

1 - reconfigure each agent to point to the new grid control
2 - have a second agent in place to communicate with the standby (shutdown until the need arises)

each of which is ok if you only have a few agents, but as the number of agents increases then this becomes a much more difficult task to manage

So a Server Load Balancer I believe is the answer, I have found metalink note NOTE:353074.1 but am not sure how to achieve what it is telling me.

Can some one perhaps proved some insight into this.

regards

Alan
