Berkeley DB Family

I've been given the task of resolving a problem with OpenLDAP with Berkeley DB backend. I'm not familiar with this database or OpenLDAP so I'm trying to find an admin/configuration document similar to what I use for Oracle and Postgres. Damned if I can find anything of use on the Oracle site.

Can anyone post where to find the version that I'm running and where to find the runtime parameters. All I have is the "directory" parameter in the slapd.conf file.

The problem is that the database gets corrupted when the power to the building goes off without warning and the people who set this up have moved on.
