Oracle Database Discussions

Hi. everyone.

I have a question about "oracle connection pooling"
and delphi BDE.

The company I work for is considering the centralization
of more than 150 DB instance.

Here is the overview of the system architecture which is
currently under operation.

1. Our customer has a chained store all over the nation of Japan.
The number of the chained store is more than 150 sites.

2. Each site has its own DB istance(oracle8.0.5)

3. The application was developed using Delphi 5.0 and 7.0.

4. The application gets the database connection using BDE.
(2- tier based system)

Now, we are considering the concentration of 150 db instances.
However, we are worried about the performance problem , which
might be caused by database connection.

1. Is it a good way to keep a 2-tier based system, using BDE?

2. If not, is there any way to solve expected performance problem
caused by database connection?

3. In addition, how much does it influence the application?

We are going to use Oracle9i Release 2.
