Concerning 'log file sync: SCN ordering' wait event!!

2648642Mar 22 2016 — edited Mar 23 2016

Hello gurus,

I am evaluating Oracle database 12.1.0.2 Multitenant for OLTP performance on a large Linux server. AWR reports indicate that my database is suffering excessively with 'log file sync: SCN ordering' waits. Can someone help me understand this event or point me to some references?

12.1.0.2 patch set is supposed to have a bug fix to reduce the occurrences of these events, however, there is not much useful information provided. Currently, this contributes close to 24% of overall wait time inspite of having the compatibility value set to 12.1.0.2.0.

Bug 17793162 - Reduce waits for 'log file sync: SCN ordering'

Would like to analyze the issue more before taking it up with Oracle support. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Rajesh
