Concept of Data Base Buffer cache

Being a newbie DBA, I am learning the Oracle Architecture and was going through Database Buffer Cache in SGA and it's different parts like pinned buffer, dirty blocks & buffer.Bookish language seems to be a bit complex. So, it will be great if anyone here can find some time to help me understand Database Buffer Cache & it's components & functionality in simple language and in brief.

Any inputs from my pals here will be highly appreciated.
