Compute Count of a column for distinct values

Can someone please help me? I'm doing a compute count on a column that has multiple rows for one id. I want to count the number of distinct IDs. How do I do that. When i use compute count of id on report i get the number of rows. Is there a way to count the distinct number of IDs.
