Compiling invalid objects is hanging the sql developer

Hi,

I have a schema in the oracle database. When i tried to recompile the invalid objects the sql developer and toad will hang. I want to quite it forcefully and reopen it. Can you please tell anybody what is the problem and how to resolve this.
