Compartment quota limitation issue while creating Compute instance in OCI Lab environment

Vinaykumar Koudi20 hours ago

Hello Team,

I am working in an OCI Lab environment (US East ashburn). While trying to create a Compute instance, I encountered a quota-related error indicating that the provided compartment has exceeded limits for standard E5 cores and memory.

Error summary:

  • standard-e5-core-count quota exceeded
  • standard-e5-memory-count quota exceeded

Since this is a lab environment, I understand that quota policies cannot be modified by users. I wanted to check if there is a way to:

  • Use a different compartment with the same level of access, or
  • Get guidance on how to switch to an appropriate compartment that allows creating a compute instance with similar permissions, or
  • Confirm if there is a recommended pre-provisioned instance that should be used instead

My objective is to create or access a compute instance for learning and testing OCI services (Jupyter / GenAI-related tasks) as part of the lab.

Could you please advise on the correct approach to resolve this compartment quota limitation while retaining the required access?

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,
Vinay K
