comparing AS400 backup & restore

user549637Dec 20 2006 — edited Dec 20 2006
Hi all,

We were using AS400 as our back-end for the last 10 years. Recently we have changed our back-end to oracle. I was very convenient with the backup & restore procedure in AS400.

For example, in case if you require to query the cutoff date transactions, it was very easy to restore a particular table of a particular date to a preferred location. I don't see any option like that in oracle's (imp/exp not considered) backup & recovery procedure.

If i am ignorant, please explain me how can I achieve this.
Also please let me know from where i can find a good article on step-by-step backup & recovery procedure in oracle 10g.
