Command menuitem background color highlight

HI
i developed one page which contains menu and otherthings . when i drag mouse to the menu ,menu displays its menuitems . when i drag my mouse to the menu items the background has to highlight for menuitem . but it is not happening in my case . I applied all the styles for command menu items .
Any one can help me in this situation.
