from the following table contents.:
SQL> desc nik_t

------------------------------- -------- ----
ID NUMBER
DES VARCHAR2(100)
SQL> select * from nik_t
2 /
ID
---------
DES
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15
apfel;birne;banane;traube
SQL>
I have got this far but now am stuck.
1* select substr(des,1,instr(des,';')-1) from nik_t
SQL> /
SUBSTR(DES,1,INSTR(DES,';')-1)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
apfel
SQL>
