Combining 2 pre-packaged APEX apps...

How can I combine 2 of the pre-packaged APEX applications? For example the Online Discussion Forum app and the Document Library? I'd like to have the functionality of the online discussion forum, but also be able to post and share documents. Kind of like MS SharePoint.
