Column Headings/Subheadings for Classic Report

We are trying to have heading/subheadings for a report. Currently, the report displays it in this fashion:

Category| 1       |Category|2       |Category| 3     
SubCat1 | SubCat2 |SubCat3 |SubCat4 |SubCat5 |SubCat6

    X         X        XXX     XXX       XX       XX

We would like it to look like this
