Color inside the item box

Is there a way to change the color inside the input fiield? This field could be date picker, select list, text field, or text area.

Basically, I was asked to change the color inside the box, not the box's background color, when it is a required field. This shall be done in addition to the '*' that indicates the required field.

If this matters, I am using Theme 15 and two level tabs.
