Client-side Excel file size limit when exporting

Hi,

Using EDQ 12.1.3.0.0 I tried to export staged data using an Export to a client-side file (whose type is .xls) and got an unhandled exception error:

Having looked at another post here I then tried exporting to an .xlsx and the task hung at ~30,000 rows; the Director client then became unresponsive and crashed with 'Application Error':

I tried this on a couple of PCs that have 8G RAM.

Finally, as a workaround I tried the same export to a server-side .xlsx file which succeeded. I also tried an export to a client-side .csv file which also succeeded.

Could you confirm whether this is a bug since I don’t see any mention of this limit in the EDQ documentation (I also created a separate post asking what limits EDQ has and no such limit was indicated).

Is there any limit on the size of Excel file that can be imported?

Also, originally we intended to export from the Director Results Browser using the Excel button however having clicked 'Load All Data' the cursor stopped spinning and the Results Browser became accessible (rather than greyed out) however it showed no data so is that also a known bug?

Thanks, Nik
