CLEAN shutdown. How to?

vsmithMay 18 2006 — edited May 18 2006
I have a PHYSICAL standby database I would like to close without generating any error messages.
It is in the MOUNT state (recovering, as designed).
I Issue:
SQL> recover managed standby database cancel;
Media recovery complete.
SQL>alter database dismount;
Database altered.

Any command I now try like 'shutdown immediate' will generate a '1507' or '1109' message.
How do I stop the Instance processes with a SQL command , without generating an error to the alertlog?
