Classic report - Strip HTML not working

Hi,

I have a classic report in which i want to strip the HTML tags. The code is generated in the query and is displayed in a standard report column. The field Strip HTML in Layout and Pagination is set to Yes but it is not working.

Apex 3.2 and Apex 3.1 both have that problem.

Am I missing something ?
