Dear Oracle Support Team,
We have a manufacturing scenario where one round bar produces six slip components. Operationally, we machine 6 slips from a single round bar in one batch.
In Oracle E-Business Suite, we assign the raw material (round bar) only once per batch of 6 slips. However, the standard BOM setup consumes material per finished unit, not per batch.
We want to confirm the correct Oracle-recommended setup for the following requirement:
- When we create a Work Order for 6 slips, the system should issue 1 round bar
- When we create a Work Order for 12 slips, the system should issue 2 round bars, and so on
Questions:
- Can this requirement be achieved using Routing only (e.g., Lot Size or operation settings)?
Or is modifying the BOM "Quantity Per Assembly" mandatory for correct material consumption?
- Is there any Oracle-supported configuration to consume materials per batch rather than per unit, without altering the BOM component quantity?
We prefer not to modify the BOM to fractional component quantities (e.g., 0.166667) because this may create confusion for raw material planning and re-ordering.
Please confirm the recommended Oracle standard approach and whether any alternative supported method exists for batch-level material consumption.
