Checking Oracle DB version on Windows

Hi!

I have a question. Are there any methods to check the version of Oracle that runs on Windows without executing any script or SQL command? I need to read it from some file or win registry.

Currently, I'm checking it in the <central inventory location>/ContentsXML/inventory.xml file from <VERSION_INFO> <SAVED_WITH> branch. Is it the right way?
