Character set when upgrade from Oracle 11.2.0.4 to 12.2

Our current 'source' database is within WE8MSWIN1252 character set but when I create a new database instance - the character set is defaulted to AL32UTF8. Is it OK if we upgrade with keeping WE8MSWIN1252. We do not have a multi-lingual data to store and do not want potential space increase need. So, can we keep WE8MSWIN1252 or we have to change for AL32UTF8 when upgrading to 12.2? What are advantages/disadvantages of keeping character set in our case??
