Changing the value of a jstl variable on button click

Hai braniees,

I need help in jstl.I declared a jstl variable with the value 1.Now on the button click can i chage the value to 2 ,3.like that.

then once a variable is declared in the top of the jsp page can i change its value in any part of the same page.
