Changing SID for a Data Guard enabled database?

User_RI3NXFeb 3 2016 — edited Feb 5 2016

Hey All,

I apologize if I'm asking in the totally wrong spot but I'm not sure where else to turn.

I have a database enabled with Data Guard for primary and secondary replication and I'm being asked to change the SID for the primary (and potentially the secondary in the future). Is there a guide I can follow for this process? I went through the documentation site on Oracle and didn't see anything explicit and a blog site mentioned I can just change the SID with no problems for the primary or secondary databases as long as Data Guard is already configured but I'm not sure if that's true (and don't want to test without breaking the replication).

Anyone have to deal with this before? Any advice would be much appreciated.
