Changing permissions from Read-Only to Read-Write on file systems

807557Aug 22 2005 — edited Aug 24 2005
For some reason my / and /usr filesystems are read-only on my Solaris 10 server. I do not recall having the option to set my file systems to Read-Only during the initial installation of Solaris 10. The server is fully configured and a lot has been done. I am having problems setting my sendmail and upon my investigation, I found that I could not update my /etc/vfstab or my /etc/hosts files.

What can I do to permanently change the permissions on my file systems from read-only to read-write, without having to re-install...the O/S and not do damage to my server? Keep in mind, I am using UFS. Thanks.
