Changing from 11g Personal Edition to 11g Enterprise Edition

FFSNov 4 2009 — edited Nov 5 2009
Hi All,

I recently installed Oracle 11g R1 Personal edition on my laptop (windows). I wanted to use the OWB_DEMO code to get familar with OWB but hit a snag when I found I should really have installed the Enterprise option for deplying my objects etc.

So.... I've gone ahead and installed another Oracle Home containing the Enterprise Edition software (in the \db_2 folder). Now to my question....

How do I get the Enterprise edition oracle home to be "associated" or "point" to my already existing database instance created by my Personal Edition software (the SID of which is CBLAP11G)??

Do I have to create a database using my Enterprise Edition then perform an export/import? Do I have to mess around with pfiles/spfiles??

I've tried searching the internet for clues but I'm more of a developer than a DBA hence so not really sure which method is best to achieve my results.

Hope that gives you enough info - Thanks in advance - Chris
