change read only look and feel in forms

Hi All,

 Using APEX 5.1.3 with universal theme. Looking at changing the look and feel of a default read only form which does not show the boxes of text fields. Instead want to have a greyed out box with the letters in black (read-only).

How to go about achieving this in the cleanest way possible.
